Portrait Group

I've also joined a portrait critique group. People pics are my biggest weakness. I lack the patience, I think. Here are some old ones to start with:

you have some nice shtos here.
photo #1 like the angle and that you filled the frame with your subject.CC is that some of the background is a little distracting in this photo.
#4 like the color very nice and also like the compostion of this shot!
on your last shot like the reflection of light on the water and it is a nice shilloute.

#1 background could be blurred. #2 Great capture with playfulness, nice contrast with B&W. Raccoon eyes...could have used flash. #3 I like a lot even though background blowout. #4 Great vivid colors. #5 LOVE this one! Great B&W with fingers framing eye. #6 Nice shot. #7 Love everything about it with twinkling water, sunlit hair.

Hi! Great shots! Here's my take on them:
#1 - great angle, CC - boost the whites or midtones in levels just a little to brighten the picture.
#2 - love the contrast and expsousure, but the stick is a little distracting. Great candid pose and shot!
#3 - great sillouette. I'd either finish blowing it out or crop differently. I really do like it though.
#4 - AWESOME USE OF COLORS!!!
#5 - love the shot, b&w, and exposure. Cute pose!
#6 - hmmm... if you darken the midtones in levels, you risk a blow out on the side of his face. Perhaps just a little more contrast. ;o)
#7 - SIMPLY AMAZING AND STUNNING!! DON'T TOUCH IT!!!

What adorable kids! As previously stated, in #1 the sharpness of the background competes with that impish little grin.
#2 Love the fun you caught them having, try cloning out the stick though, and I'll bet you'll like it alot better.
#3 The sky is quite blown out.
#4 Beautiful colors! Not sure if you used fill flash or not, but if you didn't it would help. If you have photoshop, make an adjustment layer, and adjust the levels, then erase the lighter part of her face back in. It'll be one to frame and hang!
#5 Love the b/w!
#6 Very cute, and
#7 Superb! Love everything about this photo, and wish I had taken it, lol!

Great pops of color in the one with the girl eat watermelon, really catches the moment. The last shilloute is beautiful with the light catching off the water.

I love the second and fourth shots on here. I don't know if I should critique yet because I am still trying to figure out portraits.
